All kinds of radishes have made their way into CSA bags available across the island, from pretty and mild spring radishes to the large and sometimes intimidating daikon radish! Radishes can be used for so much more than a simple slicing in salad – here are some fun new radish recipes to try!
- Pickles – Crunchy, briney pickles can be used in tons of ways such as a topper to sandwiches and salads, but most of the time we end up popping them straight from the jar! Try some different options to find some tried-and-true family favorites like Sweet Pickled Radish, Pickled Daikon and Red Radishes with Ginger, or Spicy Quick Pickled Radish. I love Vietnamese Pickled Diakon & Carrots for homemade bahn mi sandwiches!
- Slaw – Yes, itʻs really just another kind of salad, but coleslaws can vary widely with lots of different flavor combinations and uses. A few to get started with: Daikon Radish Salad, Cabbage, Radish & Apple Coleslaw, Pulled Pork with Pickled Radish Coleslaw.
- Roasted – Roasting vegetables brings out their natural sweetness! Try these: Spicy Roasted Daikon Radish French Fries, Roasted Radishes with Brown Butter, Lemon, and Radish Tops, or Roasted Curry Daikon Radish,
- Grilled – Grilling is a good method for these hot days to keep the heat outside, and a touch of tasty char on your veggies. You can easily grill radish! Check out these for inspiration: Aisoon Skewers (Grilled Daikon), Grilled Steak and Radishes with Black Pepper Butter, Grilled Radish and Green Bean Salad, or the simple Keto Grilled Radish Skewers with Herb Butter.
- Sandwiches – Put your best “pinky up” for these fancy little Radish-Chive Tea Sandwiches with Sesame and Ginger, or just toss them thinly sliced on top of some crusty bread slices with some smeared Kunana Dairy goat cheese. For a heartier treat, try these Pan-Fried Daikon Radish Buns.
