Additional Donation Options



  • Food Pantry Info: TBD – being updated currently
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP / EBT): Affected families who have a need for food assistance should sign up for financial assistance for groceries; this will also help other application processes move more quickly once qualified. Download and complete the application found HERE and deliver in-person to Kauai Processing Center (Former Lihue Courthouse Building), 3059 Umi Street, Room A110, Lihue, Be prepared to wait for an interview. Call 808-274-3371 for more info.
  • Non-Perishable Food Donations: Please bring to Hawaii Foodbank – Kauai Branch in Puhi Industrial Center; it’s getting distributed throughout the island when/where people need it. No water is needed unless it is large 5+ gallon jugs.


  • Mālama Kauaʻi Farmer Mini Grants: over $136,000 was distributed to 53 farmers; this program is finished unless additional funding is received
  • Mahi‘ai Technical Assistance Program: Info on financial support for farmers and assistance with paperwork, contact Haylin Chock: (808) 828-0685 x15
  • USDA Farm Service Agency: has a variety of disaster relief programs available for farmers; visit the Lihue FSA Service Center, Watumull Building, 4334 Rice Street, Room 206, Lihue, HI 96766; and call (808) 245-9014 Ext. 2 for more info
  • USDA NRCS: has cost-share programs and watershed protection engineering technology assistance


Many social services, as well as assistance with applications, are available in-person at Hale Halawai in Hanalei. Resources available for affected community members include:

  • General Supplies:
    • Wainiha/Haena – Aunty B’s and pop-up events (see our Facebook Page & Group for details)
  • County & State Government Services:
  • Housing Assistance / Cleanup / Repairs:
    • Round 2 Housing Loss Mini Grant Application: Mālama Kaua‘i program; 2nd round applications are due Friday, Sept. 21st
    • Habitat for Humanity: Assistance available for income qualified Owner/Occupants; some resources also available for renters. They may help with clean up, repairs, rebuilding, building materials, and appliances. Complete an Intake Form online.
    • Catholic Charities: has income-eligible housing financial assistance programs
    • Individuals with Federal Housing Administration (FHA) – insured mortgages at risk of foreclosure because of the disaster may stop or delay foreclosure by 90 days. Click HERE determine if you qualify for the foreclosure moratorium
    • Conventional mortgage holders should contact their lenders directly to determine their options
    • Those who have lost their homes and are in the process of buying or rebuilding another home can receive mortgage insurance from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). For more information, click HERE

  • All food donations should be made directly through the Hawaii Food Bank, Kauai Chapter since they have the best system for receiving, inventorying and distributing to communities that need it, when they need it
