About Us:
Founded in 2006, Mālama Kauaʻi is a community-based, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that focuses on increasing local food production and access for Kaua‘i. We do this through a lens of resilience and sustainability, which leverages workforce and economic development efforts, partnerships and innovative programs to grow community capacity.
The Job:
Wear lots of hats in this dynamic and diverse part-time, temporary role from May 19th through August 4th on Mondays and Fridays (approximately 16/hrs/wk). You will be supporting our keiki meal box program which provide farm fresh foods to hundreds of in-need keiki on Kauaʻi, including:
- Assisting in planning activities, including confirming food orders, training pickup sites and volunteers, performing pickup site visits for compliance, and other tasks
- Overseeing volunteers and helping to pack and deliver boxes
- Intaking products from local food producers and verifying quantities
- Overseeing the packing and verification of box contents, and routing them on the correct delivery routes, ensuring on-time deliveries of boxes
- Picking up items and delivering food boxes to sites, while operating organizational vans
We’re looking for someone with:
- A true love for food, helping farmers, and creating food security for our keiki
- Some basic coordination or administrative experience is preferred
- Excellent aloha-forward communication abilities
- Flexibility to respond to changing circumstances and needs
- Ability to drive company van safely
- Cultural competency to build strong relationships in the community, demonstrated by years living in Hawaiʻi (will not consider relocations)
Pay & Benefits: Pay is $22/hr for ~16 hours per week, plus discounts on local food from our food hub
