About Us:
Founded in 2006, Mālama Kauaʻi is a community-based, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that focuses on increasing local food production and access for Kaua‘i. We do this through a lens of resilience and sustainability, which leverages workforce and economic development efforts, partnerships and innovative programs to grow community capacity. 

The Job:
Wear lots of hats in this dynamic and diverse part-time role on Mondays and Fridays (plus a few hours from home) from May 1st through August 9th. You will be supporting our 9-week summer meal box program for hundreds of in-need keiki on Kauaʻi, including:

  • Assisting in planning activities, including confirming food orders, training pickup sites and volunteers, performing pickup site visits for compliance, and other tasks
  • Recruiting, onboarding, and overseeing volunteers to assist with packing and delivery of boxes
  • Intaking products from local food producers, verifying quantities, and processing invoices for payment requests
  • Overseeing the packing and verification of box contents, and routing them on the correct delivery routes, ensuring on-time deliveries of boxes
  • Assist in preparing paperwork for pickup sites and drivers, and filing returned paperwork at the end of each delivery day
  • Picking up items and delivering food boxes to sites as needed, while operating organizational vans
  • Communicating with recipient families as needed to gather paperwork and answer questions, including use of mass-texting technologies

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A true love for food, helping farmers, and creating food security for our keiki
  • Some basic coordination or administrative experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Google Drive/Docs/Sheets and strong computer skills
  • Strong ability to manage multiple deadlines, details, and people
  • Excellent proactive communication abilities and flexibility to respond to changing circumstances and needs
  • Ability to drive company van safely
  • Cultural competency to build strong relationships in the community, demonstrated by years living in Hawaiʻi (will not consider relocations)

Pay & Benefits: Pay is $22/hr plus for 19 hours per week, plus discounts on local food from our food hub.
