May 10th & 11th learn the art of grafting, air layering and propagation from cuttings with this 3-hour workshop from the executive director of the Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers, fruit hunter & expert Ken Love!
This is a hands-on workshop in which participants will be using a grafting knife to practice grafts under Ken’s direction. Trees discussed in the grafting segment include citrus, avocado, mango and starfruit.
Scott Sloan, Assistant Director of the National Tropical Botanical Garden in Kalaheo shares, “The art of grafting is a great skill to know. As president of the Kauai Chapter of the HTFG, we encourage everyone to participate. This event is also a fundraiser for us and the majority of a standard ticket will go towards your first year as a member in the Kauai Chapter.”
There are two identical workshops offered on the topic on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11th.

I am Ken Love and I am a Fruit Hunter. I’ve looked for unusual fruit in more than 50 countries and spend a lot of time in South India. I’m also the executive director of Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers and President of American Culinary Federation Kona Kohala Chefs Association.
I’m joined by documentary filmmaker Yung Chang (Up The Yangzte & China Heavyweight). His new film THE FRUIT HUNTERS follows fruit hunters like myself whose passion it is to discover and preserve exotic and rare fruits.
