A new Kauai Summer Internship is available! The Summer Youth Ambassador will assist Mālama Kaua‘i (MK) in running Kaukau 4 Keiki, our keiki (children) summer feeding program, and working with our Food Access Team. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the packing and delivery of food boxes to low-income youth and youth-serving sites across Kaua‘i
- Helping to process paperwork for program and grant compliance
- Documenting program success through participant interviews, photos, and video
- Participating in weekly program meetings
- Sharing your experience and local impact through weekly reports and digital media
- Completing a final project to develop a program impact report to share with funders and the public
We’re looking for the following:
- Ability to show up on time and complete work in an efficient and accurate manner
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and ask for help when issues arise
- Ability to repeatedly lift boxes of food up to 50lbs throughout the day
- Highly collaborative and comfortable working with the team and engaging positively with recipients
- An energetic and results-oriented work style
- A flexible and positive attitude committed to improving our food system and address hunger for our island’s children
Compensation and Time Commitment:
Role for Youth Ambassador is 32-40 hours per week for 10 weeks, with a $600 per week stipend, and a $1,000 project completion bonus (provided by MK).
