Food Hub Coordinators

The MK team is looking for new talented team members to help our nonprofit organization continue to increase local food production and access on Kaua‘i!

We are seeking passionate and skilled part-time and full-time field and administrative support staff for roles in program management, administrative support, packing/driving, and more in the coming months in both our Lihue and Moloa‘a food hub locations.

We have a variety of active programs focusing on local food distribution, farm to school, and farmer support – and we have a lot of growth ahead as we open our new food hub facility in Moloaʻa in August. The next 12 months we’ll have programs helping minority farmers start chicken farms, distributing food boxes to keiki and others in need, managing our local food e-commerce outlets, getting local food into our schools, launching the state’s first WIC (Women, Infants, & Children) program for local food, and more!

We’re seeking motivated, hard-working, and tech savvy individuals – hammahs! The right person and characteristics are more important to us than your experience on paper, and we’re willing to develop a job that fits the interests and availability of the right people.

About being part of our team…

  • We dynamically respond to our community’s needs. You must be able to be flexible, communicate frequently, and be passionate about meeting the diverse needs of our island community. People who like to mix things up, learn new things, have a good sense of humor, and wear lots of hats have fun here.
  • We are deeply collaborative. You’ll need to be able to over communicate, use google suite and texting, be comfortable with others checking your work, and checking the work of others – all with a positive, team-centered attitude.
  • We are committed to being thoughtful and attentive. We listen to and are guided by our community and each other, pay attention to accuracy and ethics in our work, manage our time efficiently, have follow-through and personal drive to do a great job, and follow specific instructions and guidelines required for our work.

Pay range is $18-$25 per hour, depending upon skills and experience, plus local food discounts.

Full-time staff also receive a benefits package that includes 10 paid holidays, 2 weeks paid time off, and a no-cost medical insurance plan that includes health, dental, vision and massage/chiropractic.

Skills & experience that are helpful but not necessarily required:

  • Project management, operations, and/or logistics experience
  • Knowledge of local food systems – agriculture & farming, restaurants, schools/institutions, etc.
  • Customer service focused
  • Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.) competence is a must for admin roles
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs repeatedly & a clean driving record for in-field roles

  • Why do you want to work for us, and what makes this work interesting to you?
  • What does giving back to Kaua’i mean to you? What do you do to give back to Kauaʻi currently?
