Mālama Kaua‘i has partnered with the County of Kaua‘i to provide netting and small grants for tools and equipment for the effective management of green waste at sites with a presence of Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB). Farmers, ranchers, and nonprofits are eligible to apply for funds.
Eligible items include machinery rental, drowning barrels, UV lights, and other tools for management of green waste sites. A total pool of $32,000 is available for bulk netting purchase for distribution, as well as grants. No grant will be over $5,000.
Applications are available here online and the deadline for the first initial rapid response round is Sunday, June 14th, 2025. Grants will be awarded with a project period of 6/16/25 through 9/16/25. If funds are available, a second round will be offered, but it is not guaranteed.
