Kaukau 4 Keiki Summer Intern
About Us:
Founded in 2006, Mālama Kauaʻi is a community-based, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that focuses on increasing local food production and access for Kaua‘i. We do this through a lens of resilience and sustainability, which leverages workforce and economic development efforts, partnerships and innovative programs to grow community capacity.
The Internship:
This is a part-time, temporary role from June 1st through July 31st on Mondays and Fridays; hours will be 8am to 3:30pm. You will be supporting our keiki meal box program which provide farm fresh foods to hundreds of in-need keiki on Kauaʻi, including:
- Helping to pack and load/unload food boxes
- Intaking products from local food producers and verifying quantities
- Assisting with cleaning and organizing the packing area
We’re looking for someone with:
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite in Lihue
- Teamwork skills and an aloha-first attitude
- Good work ethic and flexibility to respond to changing needs
- Ability to repeatedly lift boxes up to 40lbs
- Ability to focus on tasks and count items accurately
Pay & Benefits: Pay is $16/hr for ~14 hours per week, plus discounts on local food from our food hub
