Community Farm Volunteers

Volunteers are needed at the Kalihiwai Community Farm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to help with in-field crop production, maintenance, and nursery work to produce food and edible plants for the community. During this time, your help is needed more than ever to help increase food production for Kaua‘i! Duties may include:

  • Air layering and planting food trees in containers for community giveaways & plant sale fundraisers
  • Assisting in the nursery with repotting, seeding trays, and propagation of various edible plants
  • Participating in in-field crop management including preparing beds, planting, weeding, and harvesting for community food programs

Due to COVID 19, all volunteers, staff, and interns on-site are highly screened, limited to five maximum on-site at the same time, and must follow strict social distancing and sanitary procedures at all times. Volunteers are asked to commit to a 3 to 4 hour shift at the same time weekly to assist with scheduling. Unfortunately, at this time, no minors may be brought on-site.

Volunteers can take home food and plant materials, and be provided TimeBank hours in exchange for their work on the farm if desired!
