Housing, housing, housing. Where is it? At least for us normal income earners of less then a six figures. If you don't think we can get affordable housing on Kaua'i you need to listen to this upcoming radio program.

Maui Council Member Danny Mateo was the spearhead on Maui's Housing Policy that was strong enough to call for 40% - 50% of all new units built to be AFFORDABLE. Yes, it's true! And when we say affordable we mean that normal residents CAN BUY & OWN new homes (on Maui) because of this new Housing Policy.
So how do we get this on Kaua'i? How can we make half of all new developments built on our island affordable for normal residents? Listen and find out!
DATE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
The Final Council Housing Policy Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14, 9:00 AM at the Historic County Building in Lihu'e. PLEASE ATTEND or download a copy of the policy, read it and submit your testimony in support of this policy. Because there has been no community support at these workshops developers have gotten the policy down to 30% affordable and are working to reduce that requirement even further. Maui was able to keepp 50% affordable homes in their policy and we can too if we call for it to be so!
