Today we talk with in-studio guest John Harder, the previous Solid Waste Manager for the County of Maui, about the future of solid waste on Kaua'i where John now makes his home. We'll also discuss a recent report performed by R.W. Beck for the County of Kaua'i and what that means for recycling, composting and our landfill. Zero Waste, the sustainable approach to solid waste, will also be discussed and there is also talk of a $50 million dollar waste to energy facility being proposed for Kaua'i which the County Council just approved $12 million dollars for in their latest budget the week of May 14, 2007.
