- Buy locally grown food and other local products whenever possible. There is a farmer's market somewhere on Kaua`i every day of the week!
- Buy less! Ask yourself, "do I really NEED this" every time you're in the checkout line.
- Cut the garbage in your weekly trashcan by composting your food scraps and recycling.
- Use a reusable water bottle and cloth shopping bag.
- Walk and cycle more, ride the Kaua`i Bus, and carpool.
- Consolidate your errands and shopping trips to avoid unnecessary driving.
- Reduce your energy use by investing in energy efficient products, such as CFL or LED light bulbs.
- Use your power as a consumer to demand more sustainable goods and services. The Malama Kaua`i Green Map is a good way to locate sustainability-minded businesses.
- Be an active and informed participant in local government
- Get involved with an organization or issue that matters to you. Attend a quarterly Eco-Roundtable meeting or use the SaveKauai.Org calendar.
